I start reading the small info stickers and find ones intended for floors and then I see there are different patterns and materials. After some contemplation I decided I am tired of the cheaper mdf board and wanted to spend a little extra to have the nice pine wood baseboards. I love the look of the wood grain and I think it will eventually go really well with the built in that we are hoping to build in the winter season.
So of course in all this time NO ONE has come by to ask if I need help so I start yanking out boards one at a time and putting them on top of my cart. Also in the cart is an industrial floor fan for the garage since Jym has been pesting for one for a while and I know how hot it is for him outside working so I had loaded that one up. I then realize the cart is facing the wrong way and so I have to back it out of the aisle. While doing that with my wonkey wheeled cart I run close to the display for the wood version liquid nails. I think hey we might need some adhesive. I don't know. Never did this before. So I buy 2 and then make my way navigating the aisles back to the check out.
At checkout I asked for assistance but sadly no one was available. And by no one I mean the muscle bound cashier said there was no one available. Hmmm. Maybe YOU? How about a bit of customer service? Nope. So I was on my own again and made my way out to the car. Now the thought had crossed my mind on how exactly I was going to get these into my car but I had not thought so hard about it that I was doing anything toward assuring my success in the matter.
So at first I try to get the boards to angle out the front window. Nope. Then I put the seats down and decide that I am going to have to find a way to close the hatch enough to drive. But I have nothing to tie it down with. Going back inside for a rope is out of the question since I am NOT loading all this back into my cart and someone would steal it if I left it all there open. The boards at this point are literally weighing down onto my floor boards where I have a covered area where I store stuff. So I try to open it just enough to get my hand squeezed in and I dig around blindly until I come across a plastic bag. I then use the bag to tie the hatch handle to the latch. I am uncertain of my knot but I am feeling pretty satisfied at my efforts.
I get in and hold the boards and adjust my rearview mirror so I can see the hatch bottom and my questionable knot. I then drive out of the parking lot onto the highway and then over 3 massive speed bumps in my community (bastards). I eagled eyed that knot waiting for it to break loose or slide out at any minute releasing the hatch skyward. I almost held my breath at times to avoid any sign of excess movement to the vehicle. Although the knot held pretty tightly it did not keep the hatch from bouncing every time I went over a bump so I ended up with a few dings in the top board. DAMN. But I backed into my driveway and unloaded. I was feeling pretty accomplished overall I must say. Bravo to me. I don't usually toot my own horn but TOOT TOOT BITCHES!
